Kadeghe posing at Electronics Lab, SUA

Kadeghe "kade" Fue (Member of IET, ASABE, AAAS) is an Assistant Lecturer, Engineer, Developer and Consultant in Information Technology, Software systems, Sensing and control Systems (concentrating in Precision Agriculture, Machine Vision, GIS, Automation and Robotics, e-Agriculture and Agricultural (Applied) informatics)

Kadeghe Fue is on study leave** for PhD (Instrumentation & Controls, Machine Vision, Robotics, Precision Agriculture) at the College of Engineering, University of Georgia , U.S from August 2016 to 2020. He received his Master of Science degree from the University of Florida, USA in the summer of 2014. He studied precision agriculture, information systems and instrumentation/controls. He was sponsored by iAGRI under USAID feed the future program. He received Borlaug LEAP fellowship award in the Fall of 2013 offered by USAID Feed the Future programme at the University of California Davis. After then, He received the Pan African Conference on Science, Computing and Telecommunications (PACT) 2014 best student paper award in Arusha, Tanzania for the paper entitled “A Solar-powered, Wi-Fi Re-programmable Precision Irrigation Controller” on 17th July, 2014. Kadeghe simply believes in innovation and always thinking about next innovation for the farmers in Tanzania.

Before joining the University of Florida, He received Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Information Technology and attained honors degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in October, 2011. Then, He joined Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2011 as the member of academic staff. He teaches several courses in Computer programming languages, Internet Programming, Geoinformatics, and Database management systems at the Department of Informatics and Computing. Fue also teaches courses in Instrumentation and controls, electronics, precision agriculture, sensors, and Microcomputer systems at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Technology (DEST) and he is affliated researcher of Electronics, Instrumentation and Micro computer Systems LaboratoryHe has supervised more than fifteen undergraduate students on their special projects in information systems development and others in precision agriculture. Kadeghe also serves as computer developer at CICT where he works as software maintenance and development engineer of customised software like SUASIS, MPS, MOODLE, KANNEL SMS SYSTEMS, and many others. Most of these systems are written in C/C++, Java and PHP. Kadeghe was leading (as head) the Educational Technologies section for a period of two years 2014 to 2016 before leaving for PhD studies.

He is a graduate engineer member of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (M-IET), American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (M-ASABE) and American Association of Advancement of Science (M-AAAS). He has specialized in applications of computers and electronics in Agriculture especially in area of Precision agriculture, Agricultural Informatics, e-Agriculture, Sensors and Instrumentation, Controls and automation and Software Systems Engineering. He has published scientific papers in ICT and applications of computers in Agriculture. He is also a reviewer of Elsevier international journal (Computers and electronics in Agriculture). Also, He does consultancy in software systems development and electronic control systems to the public and private companies. You can read his work in this page research and consultancy.

Kadeghe has wide research interests in Precision Agriculture and emerging information systems including Software development, Robotic automation, Agricultural Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Field based High throughput phenotyping for plants, Sensing and Control systems, Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for agriculture, forestry and natural resources management, smart sensor design and sensor evaluations, Machine Intelligence, Machine Vision, Remote sensing, GIS, wireless sensor network,  internet of things (IoT) and big data application. Imagine you are a farmer riding along in your 50,000-acre wheat field early in the growing season. You push a button on your tractor to turn on its Global Positioning System (GPS) monitor, which pinpoints your exact location to within one meter. Touching another button, you display a series of Geographical Information System (GIS) maps that show where the soil in your field is moist, where the soil eroded over the winter, and where there are factors within the soil that limit crop growth. Next, you upload remote sensing data, collected just yesterday, that shows where your budding new crop is already thriving and areas where it isn’t. You hit SEND to upload these data into an onboard machine that automatically regulates the application of fertilizer and pesticides—just the right amount and exactly where the chemicals are needed. You sit back and enjoy the ride, saving money as the machines do most of the work. Congratulations, you are among a new generation of growers called "precision farmers."
